Students generally begin playing the alto recorder only after several years’ study of the soprano recorder, so this volume in the popular ABC series is not intended for complete beginners - it presupposes a basic knowledge of musical concepts and instrumental technique.
The author is the internationally known, excellent recorder player and teacher László Czidra, who determined the main pedagogical aims of the Alto recorder ABC as follows: 1) to enable the learner to master the transposing method of reading for the instrument in F; 2) to provide a systematic technical foundation; 3) to teach to the level of skill the practice of decoration and variation typical of the Renaissance and Baroque periods, which provided the greater part of the instrument’s repertoire.
The textual instructions are given in three languages: German, English and Hungarian.
