Three well-loved hymns invite optional audience participation, and themes of rest, remembrance, and spiritual hope run throughout. From the swirling dissonance of the opening Introit to the serene beauty of the Pie Jesu, Carter's score offers a diverse and compelling musical landscape.

Written in the quiet moments between teaching, parenting, and conducting, this Requiem reflects Carter's personal journey through loss and his deep connection to the choral tradition, inspired by his experiences as a chorister at Ripon Cathedral.
