Edition : Paris, l'Auteur, Foucault, Ribou, Ballard, 1707
Apart from their intrinsic musical value these pieces are doubly interesting. They provide an opportunity for violonists to practise discreetly doubling the right hand of the keyboard part. For harpsichordists they may be used as an exercise in unfigured continuo bass, leaving the right hand of the keyboard part entirely to the violin.
Preface by:
Catherine Cessac : the harpsicord pieces which can be played on the violin
Jean Saint-Arroman : notes on the ornamentation.
