Biografia
Luigi Bottazzo nacque il 9 luglio 1845 a Presina di Piazzola sulla destra del Brenta,; morì il 29 dicembre 1924 a Padova. Divenuto cieco a nove anni, entrò nell'Istituto dei Ciechi di Padova nel 1856, studiando organo con G. Carlutti e composizione con M. Balbi.
Nel 1864 fu nominato professore di organo, armonia e contrappunto nell'Istituto stesso. Nel 1872 divenne organista nella Basilica di S. Antonio a Padova e nel 1895 insegnante d'organo nell'Istituto Musicale della città.
Fu accademico onorario dell'Istituto Musicale di Firenze, membro dell'Accademia delle Scienze ed Arti di Padova, Cavaliere di S. Gregorio Magno.
Fu un ardente propagatore della musica sacra e come organista e compositore fece grande onore all'arte musicale Italiana.
Scrisse ca. 40 Messe, antifone, cantate, responsori, salmi, altra musica sacra ed anche opere didattiche, ad esempio: " L'Harmonium", metodo per imparare a suonarlo, in collaborazione con O. Ravanello.

Biographical news
Luigi Bottazzo was born on July 9th, 1845 at Presina near to Piazzola on the right side of Brenta river (Padua Province); he died on December 29th , 1924 in Padua.
Blinded at the age of nine, in 1856 he entered the Blind Institute in Padua, where he studied the organ with G. Carlutti and the composition with M. Balbi. In 1864 he was appointed professor of harmony, counterpoint and organ at the same Institute. In 1872 he became organist at Saint Anthony Basilica in Padua and in 1895 he was an organ teacher at Padua Music Institute.
He was an honorary Academician at the Music Institute in Florence, a Member of the Sciences and Arts Academy in Padua, Knight of Saint Gregory (Magnus).
He was an ardent propagator of the sacred music and as an organist and a composer he greatly honoured the Italian musical art
He wrote about fourty Masses, antiphones, cantatas, responsories, psalms, other sacred music and also teaching works, for example: " L'Harmonium", a method to learn how to play the harmonium in collaboration with O. Ravanello.
