The Editor is extremely proud to be able to offer this, the first of two volumes of organ music by contemporary New Zealand composers. This project is supported by funds from the New Zealand Arts Council. The editor, Richard Apperley, was, until his recent relocation to London, assistant organist at Wellington Cathedral. Douglas Lilburn is unquestionably a composer of world repute and his Prelude and Fugue in G minor is a notable contribution to the volume. The other items vary in style from tonal-contemporary to the fairly avant-garde, and all of then will be of particular interest to professional recitalists.
