The St. Francis Collection of Free Accompaniments to Hymn Tunes
|
These 80 organ settings, intended to accompany congregational singing, range in style from ornate to simple. Most of them are playable on two-manual instruments, and some are for manuals only. Included are settings by present-day composers such as John Ferguson, Gerre Hancock, Wilbur Held, Austin Lovelace, and Robert Powell. Particularly notable are the settings by past masters of this art of embellishment, such as J. V. Peters, J. W. Elliot, J. L. Bennet, Geoffrey Shaw, and Norman Coke-Jephcott. Many of the aforementioned settings were previously unavailable.
Compiled by the Rev. Canon Dirk von Dissel of Australia, this collection is an important resource for the enrichment of congregational singing.
