ITALIAN MUSIC FOR 2 ORGANS edited by RUPERT GOTTFRIED FRIEBERGER
The predominantly Northern-Italian practice of double-chorused music was transferred to the organ in the 16th century by transcribing (‚intavolating’) vocal and instrumental eight-part compositions (canzonas, sonatas, motets, etc.) A large repertoire of such double-chorused instrumental works – as well as most pieces contained in this volume – were printed c. 1600 in Venice and Milano
