Veljo Tormis is one of Estonia's most famous composers, renowned above all for his choral music.
His Forgotten Peoples is a cycle of six suites, each devoted to one of the Balto-Finnic peoples whose languages and songs have all but disappeared.
In Ingrian Evenings Tormis has woven a sequence of songs around Ingrian folk melodies. Tormis' style is melodically appealing, and his works have enthralled audiences all over the world.
The Ingrian Evenings has achieved a rare popularity for a choral work following the release of the all-Tormis "Forgotten Peoples" CD on ECM.
Duration ca 30 minutes.
